Ms. Hemlata Kheria, Member, NCW visited/inspected the Banswara District Jail in Rajasthan on 25.06.2013. She met the Jail authorities as well as women inmates. She found 16 women prisoners, out of which one is cheating case and three are dowry cases and rest are murder cases. The condition of jail is not satisfactory. There is no proper medical facility. Sanitary condition is also very poor. 

There is no regular legal aid system and counselling for female inmates. She recommended that Legal Counsellor be appointed for their regular legal aid for bail and counselling by an NGO time to time for the women prisoners. She also recommended for their vocational training.
