Dr. Charu WaliKhanna, Member, NCW visited Chandigarh during 21-22 April 2013 and met Ms. Paramjeet Kaur, Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Women and discussed gender issues. She presented ‘NCW Wallet book’ and a set of publications on rights of women developed by NCW to the State Commission. Appreciating the Guidelines for Service Providers in case of Violence Against Women especially Rape / Sexual Assault for Police, Medical Professionals, Prosecution, Courts, Social Workers, Counselors and Media etc., the Chairperson Punjab State Commission said that she would soon be holding a meeting with police officers of Punjab State and discussing the issue to ensure the Guidelines are followed by Punjab Police in order to make it model state. 

During the discussion Ms. Paramjeet Kaur expressed desire to study the effective working of the schemes of Govt. of India in different states so that model schemes can be implemented in the Punjab State. The member assured her that the proposed study tour to 3-4 different states, would be organised by the National Commission for Women so that women in all states can benefit from best practised adopted by different state governments.
