Hon’ble Chairperson Ms. MAMTA SHARMA interacts with a delegation from NYAYDARSHAN (Centre for Human Rights & Justice) Vadodara, Gujarat on 13th July, 2012

On 13th July, 2012 Ms. MAMTA SHARMA, Hon’ble Chairperson NCW interacted with a delegation from NYAYDARSHAN (Centre for Human Rights &Justice) Vadodara, Gujarat. The delegation included heads of intuitions from different missionary educational institutions. 

Welcoming the delegation Smt. Mamata Sharma Chairperson National Commission for Women said that education plays an important role in empowerment of women. She stressed that it is also the single most powerful way to lift people out of poverty. Education plays a particularly important role as a foundation for girls’ development towards adult life. The Chairperson hoped that all present will carry the message of the Commission to the grass root level. 

A presentation on the role and activities of the Commission was made by the PRO NCW. Queries regarding the functioning of the Commission were answered by Member NCW Dr Charu WaliKhanna, who also said that education helps remove Gender inequality and assists girls claim their rights and realise their potential in the economic, political and social arenas.
