National Commission for Women Chairperson Smt Mamta Sharma and Members of NCW Dr Charu WaliKhanna, Smt Ms. Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar, Smt Shamina shafiq, Ms Hemlata Kheria had interactive session with representatives of National Women Organisations for the way forward for joint action. The interaction was held on 28.11.12 at the Conference Hall, NCW

Ms. Mamta Sharma Honourable Chairperson National Commission for Women addressing the representatives of national women organisations said that this kind of dialogue was essential for joint action to resolve issues of violence against women, especially in view of the rising crime graph.

Ms. Annie Raja secretary NFIW stressed on the need to review the NCW act and amend it to make NCW more powerful for serving the noble purpose of it's constitution.

Ms. Aruna Roy President NFIW made suggestion to have a separate cell on women from tribal areas and minorities. She stressed that atrocities on women are increasing, whether in the name of Dowry or Foeticide. She said there is a need to strengthen the state commissions.

Ms. Sudha Sundraraman AIDWA said it was there a need to strengthen the National Commission for Women in order for crimes against women to be taken seriously.NCW and women organisations should meet periodically and there should be consultations in Gender Budgeting.

Prof. Vimal Thorat highlighted the issues connected with Dalit Women, giving specific example of state where atrocities are taking place, specifically rape of even minor girls. In the F.I.R the right sections are not incorporated. NCW and women organisations expressed serious concern about the situation of rising crimes against women and attitude of the authorities in taking up women issues. Dr Jyostna Chatterjee ,Rajini tilak, Kuljit Kaur, Divya Vinod also gave valuable suggestions
