Ms. Hemlata Kheria Member, NCW accompanied with Ms. Manasi Pradhan OYSS Women Founder visited Binjhala Village, Puri, Bhubaneshwar on 17th July, 2013. She interacted with the women and discussed their problems relating domestic violence/alcoholism/sexual assault/sexual harassment at work. She also evaluate about several schemes for women in the region. Over 500 village women along with local BDO, DSWO, CDPO and other officials were present. The officials were directed to attend to the grievances of the women and file an ATR with NCW within one month. 

On 22nd July, 2013 Ms. Hemlata Kheria, Member, NCW and Ms. Manasi Pradhan visited the entire stretch of Puri Beach, Puri Railway Station, District Hospital and all major Police Stations in Puri to evaluate the arrangements to deal with crime against women where they found that entire stretch of Puri Beach unguarded, without even presence of a single beat constable. Similarly the major police stations in Puri had not even a functional ‘Women Desk’ and the city was devoid of even a single ‘women police station’. The District Hospital in Puri was devoid of even basic infrastructure to deal with crisis situations arising out of assaults on women, seriously reeling under shortage of doctors and medicines and the women wards were found to be in deplorable condition.
