Ms Hemlata Kheria, Member chaired a programme organised by Lal Bahadur Shastri Bal Vatika School at Ghaziabad on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Ms Kheria made an elaborated speech to impress upon the gathering that the NCW, under the leadership of Mrs Mamta Sharma as the Chairperson of the Commission, was vigorously attempting to protect and safeguard the women’s interest in compliance to the provisions of the National Commission Act, 1998. She exhorted the participants to pass on the message further that days are gone when women were considered a commodity. Now the women have proved their worth by dint of their hard work and awareness. There are various laws and remedies available for their welfare. She encouraged the women to abandon the old systems and rudimentary thinking. She called upon the women to come forward for their self-esteem. 

Many celebrities such as Folk Singer Kalpana Chawla, ex MP Satya Behn, SP Traffic Kiran Yadav, etc also expressed their viewpoint. Some poetic terminology was also used such as ‘Betia shubh kamnai hain, betia paawan havain hain’’, prevent the country from hot waves’’, betia are taaja havain’.
