Ms. Hemlata Kheria, Hon’ble Member, National Commission for Women visited Chandigarh on 18.9.2012 . During her visit, she met the officials of the State Commission for Women, Punjab. During the discussion, she discussed with them about the various issues related to women and the different cases which are being dealt by the Commission. 

She found that maximum cases, they are hearing at the Commission itself and finding the solution. In some cases, they are directly going to the villages because the women who are residing at the villages, are not able to come to the Commission and discuss their grievances. They also connect with village panchayats for public hearing. The public hearings were also held by the Commission for the early settlement or a speedy measure for settling the cases.
