Member, NCW, Dr. Charu WaliKhanna was Chief Guest at programme on “Female Foeticide – Sin and Curse”. The function was organized by Vidhi Bharati Parishad in collaboration with Delhi Medical Association and Nav Unnayan on 05.05.2012 at D.M.A House, Dariya Ganj, New Delhi. 

Member, NCW, Dr.Charu WaliKhanna, addressed the participants, mainly doctors and said they have a duty to give life and not take away life. She said though malpractice of sex determination and selective elimination prevailed yet the conviction rate is very low and rarely is a doctor suspended for professional misconduct. Conducting sex determination test is a serious crime and we cannot compromise on this. The doctors generally get into these kinds of unethical practices, when they are under some obligation, when there is an excessive demand from people and greed for easy money. 

The programme was chaired by Dr.Sarojini Maheshi, former Law Minister, Government of India. The book titled “Ïtihaas Banata Samaj” by Smt Santosh Khanna was released on this occasion by Guest of Honour -Hon’ble Justice S.N.Kapur, former Judge, Delhi High Court, former Chairman of Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, & former Member National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission; and Dr.Charu WaliKhanna, Member, National Commission for Women. 

The speakers included Sh.Alok Mehta, Padamshree, Senior Editor, National World News, New Delhi, Ms.Neeta Bora Sharma, Professor, Deptt. Of Politics Science, Kumaun University, Nainital, Prof. Ravindra Nath Shrivastav, Secretary Hindi Academy, Dr.Sunil Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Delhi University.
