Dr. Charu WaliKhanna Member, NCW was honoured for authoring book, on Law Day, the 26th November, 2012 by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir, the Chief Justice of India who was Chief Guest and Hon’ble Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Union Minister for Law & Justice the Guest of Honour. The function organized by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) at the Supreme Court Lawns, New Delhi included many other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
Dr. Charu WaliKhanna is the only advocate of the Supreme Court of India who has been honoured now for the EIGHTH time by the SCBA (six times consecutively in 2004-2009 and twice in 2011-2012). The book titled ‘HAUNTED’ is co-authored with Ms. Rashmi Anand, with the authors being committed to helping survivors of domestic violence build strong futures including building a strong community of survivors. The book is a story of a survivor of domestic violence and the contents are intended to motivate other victims escape violence and establish a life independent from their perpetrator. By sharing the story with the readers and by providing legal inputs regarding maintenance, visitation, succession, child abuse etc. authors hope to encourage other victims escape violence and help themselves.
