Dr. Charu WaliKhanna, Member NCW, Chief Guest at 63rd Republic Day Programme And Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony at Shiv Vani Model Senior School

Shiv Vani Model Senior School, Dwarka celebrated the 63rd Republic Day and Prize Distribution Ceremony: Accolades 2012 on January 25, 2012. Dr Charu WaliKhanna, Member, National Commission for Women, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Vijay Gaur, Secretary, Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti and Mr. Virendra Gupta from Toronto Canada were the Guests of Honour. The school’s NCC cadets presented Guard of Honour to the dignitaries. 

The ceremony commenced with the flag hoisting by the Chief Guest Dr Charu WaliKhanna and playing of the National Anthem by the school band. Patriotism filled every heart and the tricolor evoked feelings of pride and enthusiasm as the students depicted the spirit of Republic Day through various performances. The dance performance, ‘The spirit of India’ was woven around the theme – India, a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic. “No one loves his country for its size or eminence, but because it is his own”. To prove this, another dance was performed titled ‘Heat the beat of India’ which evoked the feelings of oneness all as Indian hearts were beating together for a noble cause: a united, strong, corruption free and peaceful India. A group of students beautifully recreated for the audience a small presentation titled ‘The Journey’, depicting India’s glorious past and its great Presidents. It also highlighted the significance of Republic day as it is the day on which the Constitution of India came into force. 

The Prize distribution function felicitated the Students of the Year, Readers of the Year as well as Scholarships and Scholar Badges were awarded for academic excellence and trophies for Inter House activities (Cultural, Display-Board and Sports). The students who represented the school in Zonal Competitions and Inter School Competitions were also awarded with certificates, medals and trophies. White Card Holders and Band Group were also honored with certificates. Nilgiri House had a historic win by bagging all the three running trophies -Best House cultural activities, Best Display Board and Sports activities. Nilgiri House Mistress Mrs. Meenakshi Solanki and House In charge Mrs. Sakshi Saxena were among the proud recipients of the trophies. Eco Club was adjudged as the best club for their valuable contribution to make the environment clean and green. 

The Chief Guest Dr. Charu WaliKhanna gave an inspiring speech and congratulated all the winners. The programme ended with a wonderful finale befitting the occasion as Dr Charu WaliKhanna motivated the children and teachers to take an oath to eliminate violence and atrocities against women and protect the girl child in order to build a healthy society.
