The Commission organized a National Seminar on “Gender Violence and its Impact on Women Life Cycle with respect to Dowry System in India” at Jaipur on 19-20, July, 2014

The above titled seminar has been accomplished successfully on dated 19-20 July 2014 at Badjatya conference Hall, Jain Nasiya, Narayan Circle, Jaipur Rajasthan in the Chairpersonship of Prof. Pawan surana, Ex-Chairperson, Rajasthan State Commission for Women, The key note Speaker was Prof. Lad Kumari Jain , Chairperson of Rajasthan State Women Commission and special guest of honour was Dr. Rajendra singh Chief General Manager, NABARD Regional Office, Jaipur the attraction of seminar’s inaugural session was Smt. Mamta Sharma, Chairperson National Commission for Women, New Delhi on date 19th July 2014 at 1100 to 1300 Hrs. After the Lunch from 1300 to 1400 hrs the technical session 1st was started at 1400 hrs. with the Chairmanship of Prof.Sudha Rai, and penalists Prof. S.L. Sharma and other dignitaries of India it was finished at 1530 hrs, and from 1530 to 1750 hrs. The technical session 2nd was performed in the Chairmanship of Prof. R.L Meena of central University of Rajasthan, Bandra Sindri Ajmer.

On Second day date 20th July 2014, the 3rd session of seminar was started with the Chairmanship of Prof. Rajiv Gupta University of Rajasthan Jaipur, from 0930 to 1130 hrs. and after 1130 hrs the session 4th was started with the Chairmanship of Prof. J.N. Choudhary upto 1230 hrs.

The Chairperson of NCW stated in the inaugural session that there is a serious need of Women sensitization in India and police and legal order implementing agencies can play a key role for a common awareness in this regard. She stated that police and judicial system is corrupted from lower rank to top level and it needs a proper training and awareness to guide the public face of police and judiciary. She added that when a victim women goes to police station the gender attitude of male police is seen always and they are biased towards the lady victims and their complaints are always misreported and being adjusted in a false parameters of social bench.

On the above both of the days the various aspects of Gender violence and Dowry System in India were discussed and different NGO’S and scholars has been participated from all over the India and all the possible remedial issues related to dowry and consequential gender violence connection has been explained. The feministic and radical women hood was also suggested by Prof Rajiv Gupta of University of Rajasthan to eliminate the gender biasing in the India.

The formal valedictory of session was done in the Chairmanship of Prof. Kshama Agarwal Director Women Studies Centre University of Rajasthan and guest of honour was Prof. S.L. Sharma Director of Social Sc. Research centre University of Rajasthan Jaipur.
The seminar was successfully participated by for rural Women from Rajasthan villages and Girls participants from various Universities of India and allied areas.

Many female participants have shared their problems realted to the Dowry. Many of the research papers were presented in each sessions of seminar by various research scholars and lecturers of colleges & NGOs and were discussed with current respective panelists with respect to Dowry and Gender Violence

The final address and vote of thank was given by Dr. Kanta Meena Organizing secretary of the seminar to Mrs Mamta Sharma and all the participants, panelists and guest of the seminar.

It has been concluded that there a proved connection between Dowry System and Gender Violence and it can only be eradicated by a common level of women sensitization and proper implementation of safeguards given by Indian constitution to the Females, the Police, Media, NGO and other developmental partners can play a pivoted role in the issue of gender violence and dowry system in India.
