The National Commission for Women has taken Suo Motu cognizance on media reports citing that the “BJP Haryana Chief Media coordinator Shri Surjpal Ammu has announced that he would double the bounty in the heads of actor Deepika Padukone and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Rs. 10 crores if their film ‘Padmavati’ is released”.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has written to the Director General of Police, Maharashtra regarding usage of
objectionable, derogatory, sexual remarks and obscene signs on social media by a renowned venture investor Shri Mahesh Murthy, owner of Seed fund; based on a complaint filed by a woman in Delhi.
National Commission for Women Chairperson Smt. Rekha Sharma has responded towards a complaint received from Ms. Rhea Laila Pillai regarding her domestic violence proceedings before Bandra Magistrate Court. Ms. Pillai has alleged in her said complaint to the NCW that condescending and sexist remarks were being used by the respondent lawyers during the court proceedings in the court room packed with people and the media. NCW has written to the Bombay High Court regarding Ms. Pillai’s complaint.
