Participation by the Indian Delegation in the fifty-fifth
session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) of the United Nations
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), at New York from February 24, 2011 to
March 4, 2011.

National Commission for Women also made the country statement regarding
implementation of the Beijing declaration and platform for action and the
outcome of the 23rd special session of the general assembly with reference to
the Indian context during the General Discussion Session on Monday, 28th
February, 2011.

The topic for discussion for the next year’s
conference in 2012 has been identified as “The empowerment of rural women, in
relation to climate change and food security. Review theme: the agreed
conclusions from the 2008 session on “Financing for gender equality and
empowerment of women.”” Suggestions and discussion papers as
well as examples from India are invited in advance.
